Creating Creative Careers

“Thinking out of the box” - the only successful mantra for any kind of business today. Every manager wants their employees to be creative in managing their day to day work. Today, not only corporate houses but individuals also have innovated ways to convert their hobbies into careers for themselves, that don’t just satisfy their creative desire but also act as a source of revenue for them.

Today we can see many careers, which we could never imagine of some years back. This generation does not hesitate in experimenting with their careers. The priority of the young guns today is to do what they want to do and not what they are supposed to do. Some do fail in this venture but they don’t complain as this was the path they choose themselves. But the determined ones do make it and successfully make a stand for themselves in this world.

This attitude of the young generation of taking risk and a wish to revolutionize the age old processes of business, has given rise to “Entrepreneurship” in India. Even highly educated graduates from the superior B schools today opt for setting up their own business rather than work under someone in this big bad world. Let’s discuss some new, innovative careers that have come into existence due to creative minds.

What do you do when you have stained clothes? Certainly, you send them to the laundry and get them cleaned. So let me ask you one more question; What do you do when your shoes get stained? Many of us would not have any answer to this, but Mumbai based Vinnie Chaddha has given all of us a solution on this. She is the first to come up with a ‘Shoe Laundry’ concept. She observed that people buy expensive footwear but do not take care of them as they are not aware of the materials used on footwear like leather; swede etc. and her obsession for footwear inspired her to emerge in this field. She has come up with her first store in Mumbai and is experiencing a very good response. Following this great idea she has also entered into the reality show – “Business Baazigar”, and earned herself a special award. Therefore she says don’t take your obsessions flippantly as they might escort you to great heights.

So, next time when you think of a career, don’t look too far. The answer lies within us, it’s just that we need to realize and work upon it seriously. Many of us think that success can be achieved by hard work too. Apparently, hard work is the most important factor, but if your work reflects creativity and if you start enjoying the work you are doing, you will do it better and faster. So the bottom line of all this is that never take your hobbies or interests lightly as, that is what you really like to do. If you have the passion and courage to go ahead then start working out things for yourself. As rightly said by legends that, “Creativity always shows you a different path”
